England’s Shambles
Category: Sports
Just when you thought it could not possibly get any worse than the last six months then England’s latest performance in the tour of the West Indies certainly does not make for good reading for the travelling barmy army and all those watching the events that embarrassingly unfolded in the 1st test match in Jamaica.
After England opened the batting and reached a modest looking 318 in the 1st innings of this game they looked to have done very well in reducing the home side to 392 all out when at a time during the West Indies reply they had threatened to score well in excess of 500 runs.
So with a lead of just 74 runs you would have thought the English batsmen would just bat out the rest of the day and make this game seemingly end up as a draw and go for a win in the 2nd test match which starts next week, but how wrong could I and every other person could possibly be from the truth!
England came out and threw there bat wildly at balls which any International player normally leaves and looked like local Sunday league players that were there just too make up the numbers and when you consider all rounder Andrew Flintoff was the only player in their side that reached double figures in the 2nd innings ridiculous score of 51 runs. The West Indies bowlers too be fair are nothing like the ones that graced the sport 15-20 years ago and the bowler that did the damage looked like he had just been plucked from school with his youthful look.
Jerome Taylor finished the innings with remarkable figures of 5-11 from nine overs before Sulieman Benn took over to finish the job off with his second four-wicket haul of the match against the shocking England batsmen.
With only three tests left in the series I would now look at a 2-1, 3-1 victory for the home side and all these prices are all available at Ladbrokes.com.
