Representatives from AC Milan will fly to Los Angeles this week for further negotiations concerning a permanent move for David Beckham to the San Siro. A transfer deadline imposed by Major League Soccer to come to an an agreement has passed but contractual talks are set to continue.
Galaxy are understood to be unhappy with Milan after they failed to meet a Major League Soccer deadline over any move on Friday for the 33-year-old midfielder. He is due to report back for training with LA Galaxy in early March, when his loan spell at Milan comes to an end, but he has made it very clear that he wishes to stay at the San Siro on a permanent deal.
BET NOW
Milan, who have had an official £5m bid for the 33-year-old turned down, have so far failed to meet the Galaxy’s valuation of the player, which is apparently in excess of £10m.
In an attempt to resurrect his international career, Beckham joined Milan on loan after England manager Fabio Capello said he needed to be playing more competitive football on a regular basis. Beckham has not admitted defeat just yet and feels he has done all he can to secure an extended stay in Italy. He is keen to stay at the San Siro on a permanent basis and Milan are also hopeful of completing a deal.
The England international, who recently equalled outfield player Bobby Moore’s England record of 108 caps in last week’s 2-0 loss to Spain in Seville, has become a regular starter for Milan since his arrival on loan back in January. However, with England set for a busy schedule of nine internationals from the end of March until October, which also includes six qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, a return to the MLS could see Beckham omitted from the national squad.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has quickly settled in at the San Siro, impressing both his manager Carlo Ancelotti, his team-mates and opposition managers with his professionalism and work ethic.

Just when you thought it could not possibly get any worse than the last six months then England’s latest performance in the tour of the West Indies certainly does not make for good reading for the travelling barmy army and all those watching the events that embarrassingly unfolded in the 1st test match in Jamaica.
BET NOW
After England opened the batting and reached a modest looking 318 in the 1st innings of this game they looked to have done very well in reducing the home side to 392 all out when at a time during the West Indies reply they had threatened to score well in excess of 500 runs.
So with a lead of just 74 runs you would have thought the English batsmen would just bat out the rest of the day and make this game seemingly end up as a draw and go for a win in the 2nd test match which starts next week, but how wrong could I and every other person could possibly be from the truth!
England came out and threw there bat wildly at balls which any International player normally leaves and looked like local Sunday league players that were there just too make up the numbers and when you consider all rounder Andrew Flintoff was the only player in their side that reached double figures in the 2nd innings ridiculous score of 51 runs. The West Indies bowlers too be fair are nothing like the ones that graced the sport 15-20 years ago and the bowler that did the damage looked like he had just been plucked from school with his youthful look.
Jerome Taylor finished the innings with remarkable figures of 5-11 from nine overs before Sulieman Benn took over to finish the job off with his second four-wicket haul of the match against the shocking England batsmen.
With only three tests left in the series I would now look at a 2-1, 3-1 victory for the home side and all these prices are all available at Ladbrokes.com.

The Coca Cola Championship. This is the second tier in English football and is what some people refer to as the “hardest” league in the world. This is because the main aim of the league is to gain promotion into the Premiership, the best league in the world. Normally about 75% teams are good enough to gain promotion to the Premiership and in this league anyone can beat anybody.
BET NOW
The league consists of 24 teams all battling it out over the season which starts in August and finishes in May. All teams play each other twice, once at home and once away from home, the bottom three teams in the league are relegated into League One and three teams win promotion, The top two teams automatically win promotion into the Premiership and the format in which the third team goes up is a format that is fantastic for the neutral fan but nerve wrecking for the fans of the teams involved.
What happens is the team who finish 3rd play the team who finished 6th in what is called a play-ff, they play each other twice. The same thing also happens between the teams who finish in 4th and 5th, then the two winners go into a final and contest what is known in the game as the “worlds most expensive match” this is because the two winners play each other at Wembley Stadium and the winners win promotion into the Premiership. The reason it is known as the expensive match is because Premiership teams get so much more sponsorship money and television rights, rumoured to be in excess in £40million.

With Manchester United now two points clear and with a game in hand do not expect any more favours from them, and with this week’s fixture away too the ever improving West Ham who now look like a good side under the Italian Gianfranco Zola’s leadership I can see this game being very tight with united winning by a goal to nil with Berbatov grabbing the goal.
BET NOW
Liverpool who need to get back to winning ways very quick if they are to challenge for the title make a trip to the South coast to face a really out of form Portsmouth side who cannot buy a win from anywhere at the minute and I fancy Liverpool to walk away comfortable winners 2-0 with Torres getting amongst the goals.
Tottenham who will be encouraged by the return of Robbie Keane in the transfer window face Arsenal in the North London derby that promises to be a cracker, with so much tension between two clubs and what promises to be a great atmosphere I reckon this will end up even with a 1-1 draw looking favourite and do not be surprised to see Keane get a home debut goal as well.
The other two teams in the top 4 at the moment should see both pick up three points. Chelsea entertain Hull City and Aston Villa travel to Blackburn and both have key players back in their line ups which I feel will see both clubs get the wins.
Man City should overcome Middlesbrough at Eastlands especially now the harmony looks to be restored after Robinho went on his excursion to Brazil without permission.
A few games look like certain draws for the Pools coupon as well. West Brom V Newcastle and Everton V Bolton for me a destined to finish as draws with Sunderland’s home game with Stoke also looking like a possible score draw as well.

It was not that long ago that footballer Robbie Keane made a dream move to his boyhood idols Liverpool, however there is some concern about his long-term prospects at the club.
The Republic of Ireland forward has featured less in the side as the season progresses. This latest snub has made Keane, 28, more determined than ever before to stay and fight for his place.
BET NOW
However, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his interest in taking the striker back to White Hart Lane. Spurs have already signed two former players during this transfer window, Jermaine Defoe from Portsmouth and Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland.
If Keane is to return to his former club, spurs could effectively waive the outstanding fee they are owed by Liverpool and possibly offer a player in exchange such as Aaron Lennon or Gareth Bale.
There has also been interest from Manchester City if their top target Roque Santa Cruz of Blackburn does not wish to go.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has made it quite clear that there will be no players for sale as he pushes for the premier league title, but his friendship with Keane has of late become strained. Keane did not travel with the squad for the recent Everton game after he discovered that David Ngog had taken his place on the bench.
He has trained since, and made his aplogies to the manager, with Benitez impressed by his aptitude in training. Although many seem to think that his days are numbered, maybe it would be best for all concerned if he was to move on.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has told the media that the club will fine record signing Robinho following his training ground walk-out in Tenerife. The £32.5m striker, a british record signing, made an unscheduled departure by flying back home to Brazil without telling boss Hughes that he had to attend some family business. Coincedence has it that it was also the star’s 25th birthday, which has not helped his cause.
BET NOW
It had been suggested that Robinho would escape any punishment by Manchester City for disembarking to his homeland without permission. Former Real Madrid star, Robinho, has stated on his own website that there has been no falling out with his manager and that Hughes is the boss. Hughes, the former Wales manager, is expected to fine Robinho a fortnight’s wages as punishment for going absent and has warned his samba star about his future conduct. City managed to get Robinho amidst a bidding war with Chelsea back in September, However this latest episode has alerted Luis Felipe Scolari t othe possibility of signing the wayward star in the summer when the current season finishes. Robinho never really had the desire to play for Manchester City and would have preferred Chelsea in his first move to the premiership, if it wasn’t for a last minute hike in wages being offered by City. There is no doubt that he has the ability to perform as the world class player we all know but i doubt his commitment when things get tough.

The Premiership is now starting to really hot up with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd all now locked in a 3 way battle to take the championship after another weekend of high drama in the Premiership.
The big game of the weekend came at Old Trafford with Man Utd hosting there latest arch enemy in Chelsea. The game started with both defences well on top until centre half Vidic headed United into a half time lead right on the stroke of the interval (45) then in the 2nd half United really upped the gears and further strikes from Rooney and Berbatov gave Man Utd a comfortable 3-0 win and sent out a deadly warning to their rivals that they are now bang on form and are after the trophy once again.

Liverpool threw away another two points in their quest for the title for the 1st time in nearly two decades after only drawing 0-0 with relegation battlers Stoke City and it could have been much worse if Stoke City’s strikers remembered where the goal was.
Arsenal got them back in with an outside chance of the title race after a late Bendtner goal gave them all the points over a resolute Bolton Wanderers outfit that if truth be known came here for a point and played like it.
Surprise package Aston Villa carried on their great form this season with a 2-1 derby win over bottom of the table West Brom with both local boy Davies and an own goal from Baggies keeper Carson doing the trick.
Tottenham found themselves back in the relegation places after losing 1-0 to an injury time goal away at Wigan, Hull City carried on their alarming drop down the table going down 2-0 away at Everton and the other two games both ended score draws with Newcastle and West Ham ending 2-2 and Boro and Sunderland finishing their north east derby 1-1.

With the Australian open back on our Television sets next month now would be a good time to give the players I think will have a big say in where the silverware will end up this season.
BET NOW
Australian open
With the start of the Grand slam season due to start on the 4th of January I think this year the title will be fought out on the hard courts at Brisbane between either Nadal, last year’s winner Djokovic and Britain’s Andy Murray. If Nadal is anything like he was last season where he racked up an impressive eight titles including 2 Grand slams and an Olympic Gold then I feel he will add the Australian Open to his already filled up Trophy cabinet.
French Open (Roland Garros)
With Nadal looking unbeatable in Paris over the last few years after collecting title after title I think this will be the year where somebody else gets their hands on the Trophy, but they won’t be any strange hands around the Prize I really do think Roger Federer will win the final over Nadal and reclaim the king of the slow court title.
Wimbledon
With all the British fans hoping Mr Murray can collect his 1st Grand Slam I have a feeling Mr Federer will carry on his form from France and take the biggest prize on the Tennis calendar and once again reclaim the 1st ranked man in the World. Watch this space.
US Open
This could be the one Mr Murray wins, after enjoying his 1st final appearance last year I think he could win this and end all those painful years of not seeing a Brit win anything.

With so many foreign players joining clubs up and down the English premiership I ask myself if it really is damaging the English national teams chance at major tournaments like the European Championships or the World Cup.
BET NOW
World governing body Fifa together with Uefa are both looking at the prospect of having quotas on foreign nationals and are looking to push it through pretty quickly giving the less fashionable clubs a bigger chance of winning trophies and on the whole I think can only be good for the beautiful game of Football.
When you consider the amount of Trophies the top teams in England, Spain and Italy have won in the past 10-20 years due to them being able to outbid all the smaller clubs for the better players it really does make you wonder why the rule was changed in the first place. When we had a maximum of 5 foreigners per side you really did see many teams being able to challenge for honours unlike today where you have the same 3 or 4 clubs battling it out for the major cups year in year out.
Another negative I think it has caused is the amount of lower league teams struggling to stay in the game largely due to financial difficulty and because any good teenager they bring through is immediately pinched for a meagre fee by a bigger club which I think should never be allowed to happen.
So let’s just hope the men at the top get this one right because if they don’t I feel clubs will be going out of existence at an alarming rate.
